August Glimmers: Family time and connections to water
Creating even more tiny moments of joy
We had an epic August and I loved spending quality time with my family, whilst keeping up with the exciting projects that we have ongoing.
Miranda had an amazing adventure with her family travelling around Europe making cool new family memories, you can read about her experience train travelling with her family here:
I went for a slightly more sedate break with my family by a lake in France, where we spent our time wild swimming and wandering into local patisseries; working our way through the variety of sweet treats! It was another great reminder to take time and to enjoy the calm moments.
I loved seeing both my son and daughter have the freedom of the lake and how truly connected they were with nature and away from screens for a week.
In the Wild with Coach Rosie
Coach Rosie, who is based in South London, has been out in nature delivering an In the Wild family session for her local community and the feedback is epic, check this out:
Coach Rosie is one of our In the Wild Coaches and also 1-2-1 Confidence Coach, if you are looking for coaching or nature wellbeing sessions in schools, she can help.
We also had some great work trips this month with Miranda and her family surveying Westport Lake and delivering some In the Wild family sessions. We are so lucky to have so many natural spaces to visit in the UK and many of these are FREE to visit. Miranda’s kids loved being by Westport Lake, finding baby ducks, a mini maze and of course an ice cream at the end, and the view from the lake looks amazing. Canal River Trust will be launching our family wellbeing route around the lake very soon.
Coach Luke was also out on the Canalside visiting the National Waterways Museum in Gloucester where he was surveying the site for another family wellbeing trail
You can read more about our Family Wellbeing sessions in Manchester and at Foxton Locks, which we loved running with CRT staff and volunteers.
It’s been an amazing feeling with events selling out and we can’t wait for the next ones. For anyone that can’t attend the session you also DIY with downloadable tools:
Training up More Official Glimmer Seekers
As anyone that reads this will know, we are all about finding glimmers, the small moments of joy in everyday. As part of our work with the Canal & River Trust we are training staff to become Official Glimmer Seeker’s. This is an important part of their training, as when we are in a good place ourselves we can then coach others much more effectively. This is what Glimmer Seeker workshops do, alongside teaching some really important communication tools, that will next level their delivery of our tools.
Glimmer Seeker Training is open to anyone please email us for more information.
Connecting Even More Schools to Nature & Power of Play
We have also been working in collaboration with a local Solihull School on an innovative In the Wild Community Hub and also our Project “Play”ground we can’t wait to tell you more about this soon. It’s a bit secret squirrel for now but we are really excited to see this project evolve and the changes it will make for an entire community.
Back to School
After an amazing Summer, it has been lovely, the children are getting back to school, although always a mix of emotions and adjustment we are all back into the swing of things. I’ve been working with a few local children 1-2-1 supporting them back into school with confidence.
Miranda’s eldest started secondary school and is successfully navigating this transition, it is a big step for many kids so we have lots of help and support here:
If you need more help please get in touch, it was great to be able to continue supporting children during the holidays with our tailored 1:1 sessions in person and on zoom, helping them to return to school with confidence. Our network of amazing coaches are here ready to help.
Have a great September and if there are questions you have please let us know we would love to help.
