Trading the digital noise for everyday magic:
The Power of the Glimmer Jar™
The world has felt heavy lately. Between the news and social media, it’s easy for us—and especially our teens—to feel bombarded by “noise.” When that overwhelm kicks in, it can be hard to feel grounded.
As Confidence Coaches, one of our favourite ways to help young people feel safe and connected is by hunting for Glimmers.
What is a Glimmer? ✨ Think of them as the opposite of a “trigger.” They are those tiny, micro-moments of joy that spark a sense of safety and hope.
When we attend events, we bring our giant Glimmer Jar™ (think of us as the BFG, but instead of dreams, we’re collecting moments of real-world magic). At first, many kids (especailly older ones) struggle to find one, we can miss what is right in front of us.
Breaking the Digital Trance 📱
In a world of smartphones and constant tech, we are often so focused on what others are doing online that we miss the reality in front of us. Glimmers act as a circuit breaker, helping us look up and tune back in.
Once you start looking? You see them everywhere. We’ve collected thousands of glimmers across the country (we even trained Gladiator Steel to help us collect them too!).
Some recently glimmers we have collected:

Glimmers remind us that even when things feel unsettled, there is still beauty to be found. They are the “circuit breakers” for stress.
Try it at home 🏠 You don’t need a giant jar. Tonight at dinner, share one of your small “moments of joy” and ask your child for theirs. It’s a simple way to remind them that the world is still a beautiful place worth celebrating.
